Hi! I’m Declan Buckley.
This is my personal blog for thoughts, ideas and perspectives that are not directly connected to my work. I’m a broadcaster, multimedia artist, entertainer and writer from Dublin in Ireland.
In many ways, I’m a Jack of All Trades and Master of None – although I do have a Masters degree that I earned a few years back. That was an M.A. in Digital Media Technologies from TU Dublin (formerly DIT). I also have a International Business degree from DCU where I studied Economics, International Trade and Marketing alongside Behavioural Sciences, Accountancy and Law.
I love books and I read a lot. I also love film. I’ve even been in films. I go to the theatre frequently and am also interested in the visual arts. I take a lot of photographs to mixed results, which you can see here.
I’m fluent in Irish Sign Language but my Irish is not as good as it once was. Same with my French, so I’ve given up dreams of ever hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. I am old enough to have studied Latin in school. And I’m now learning Italian, Greek and Arabic on Duolingo, which definitely works!
I’ve been a History buff ever since I was 7 years old, when my grandmother bought me a Ladybird book on the Kings and Queens of England. I’m fascinated by Sociology and Philosophy — in particular the politics of gender and privilege and how we still have so much to learn.
